Coal City blanks the Comets
Coal City soccer team traveled to Reed-Custer to play Interstate-8 rival the Comets.

Brandon Talty started the scoring with a corner kick that found the net.

The second goal came from a through ball by Trevor Weigand to Mark Evans who beat his guy and found the net.

The score at half was 2-0 Coalers.

"R-C came out and put a lot of pressure on our defense," said head coach Branden Peterson. "We adjusted and scored the final goal with a cross from Louie Grove to Evans."

Shots on goal were made by Evans (4), Grove, Talty, Ryan Petty and John Wexelberg.

"We had lots of chances but couldn't finish," he added. Dyllan Kincaid played top notch defense and Zack Bretz got the shut-out with seven saves.

The final score was 3-0.
